Last week we had another webinar where we take a closer look at some of the ways to get the most out of Excel. Some of these tips you may already know and individually they may only save a few minutes each but collectively there will be a few things you didn’t know that will, when put together, save you a significant amount of time.


A few of the many things we touched on include better ways to enter data into many fields at once, multiple different ways to select cells, and how to access make the most of your clipboard and copy/paste.

This morning we had a great talk where we went through the LSC Tech Baseline. We covered many topics ranging from how many tech people should your organization have to how to manage your social media presence to how to approach security.


Most of these topics we would need to do one or more full length webinars to do them justice, fortunately for a few of them we have. If you look through the NTAP Youtube channel you can see videos we have done that cover many of these topics including social media, security, and VoiP and unified communications /blatantplug. Watching this and going over the document will give you enough knowledge to make a plan and identify where to start to improve how your organization uses technology.

We have a few more opening in organizations within our community as well as an RFP for a website redesign. If you are looking for something new take a look at what we have below. If you aren’t look anyways, you might know someone else who is looking who would be a good fit.

Database Administrator

Our first job is for a more technical person, the Health Consumer Alliance (HCA) is looking for a database administrator in San Diego. HCA is a network of ten California based legal aid organizations that works on both a systemic and individual level to ensure that consumers get the health care they need.
They are looking for someone to help review proposals and then implement a new data collection and management system. You will be supporting a transition from ten remote databases to one aggregated database and then using that database to generate monthly reports for funders.

Director of Information Systems

Our next opening for a Director of Information Systems at Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Maine. This position is responsible for supporting a network for about 180 users in 15 offices and requires a good deal of both the high and low level admin skills.
The ideal candidate will have five to seven years experience in the tech field with three of those being an admin. Experience working in a nonprofit or law firm is highly desirable.

ABA Center for Innovation-Microsoft NextGen Fellow

Next the ABA Center for Innovation and Microsoft have announced a new fellowship open to a recent (in the last 5 years) law school grad. This position will primarily be working on advancing the LSC portal project while also contributing to other technology projects.
This position is located in Redmond, WA and runs one year from 8/1/17 to 7/31/18

A2J Author/HotDocs Developer and Web Content/Tech Support Specialist

Goin back east Michigan Legal Help Program and Michigan Poverty Law Program are looking for an A2J Author/HotDocs Developer and Web Content/Tech Support Specialist.
This position is split between the two organizations, half of it will be maintaining, updating, and adding to the interviews on MLHP and half will be managing some drupal websites and assisting MPLP’s system administrator with general tasks.

RFP for Website Redesign

And finally we have a RFP from Columbia Legal Services to redesign and build a new website. It’s been five years since the site has been redesigned and they are looking for something that reflects modern design principles and strategic priorities.
Earlier today we had Sandy Rylander come over to our offices to teach us some tips and techniques to help us be more efficient when using Microsoft Word 2016. We cover a lot of little things you probably don’t know like some of the subtle differences between types of saving and compatibility, optimising text formatting and navigation, and of course more ways to get the most out of the quick access toolbar.
