Pro Bono Net, a national organization using innovative technology to increase legal assistance for the poor, is seeking a qualified Junior Developer to join our small, dynamic, and growing team.

THE POSITION
Pro Bono Net is looking for an inspired individual ready to apply their passion for the Internet and gain skills in software development. The candidate will work closely with the web development team to enhance and maintain existing web platforms that employ a number of web technologies and techniques to deliver a rewarding and valuable experience for site users. These include content management strategies, email collaboration, video streaming, flash, podcasting, RSS, AJAX, APIs, and microformats. This is an ideal position for someone low on experience but high on skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform/assist in all areas of software development cycle, including design, development, integration, testing, maintenance, and documentation
• Help maintain server network, including setting up of network services, backup schedules, automated recovery plans and disaster recovery
• Provide responsive, ongoing application support to program staff

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• 1+ year of ColdFusion programming experience or 3+ years of experience with a server side application platform (PHP, .Net, Java)
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS and web publishing standards (xHTML, Atom, RSS )
• Understanding of MVC architecture patterns
• Must possess a desire to learn emerging technology and Internet trends.
• Strong analytical skills
• Demonstrated self-starter
• Sense of humor
Desired
• Windows Server Administration experience
• RDBMS and T-SQL knowledge and the ability to understand complex schemas and relational databases as well as object oriented programming
• Microsoft SharePoint 2007 knowledge will be an added advantage
• JAVA/J2EE configuration and/or development experience
• Must be Must be able to easily adapt to changing priorities and manage
workload accordingly
• Flash/ActionScript experience including familiarity with Flash Media Server
• Familiarity with web usability best practices
• Web design experience

Pro Bono Net works in close partnership with nonprofit legal organizations across the country to increase access to justice for poor and moderate-income people. It seeks to do so through (i) supporting the innovative and effective use of
technology by the nonprofit legal sector, (ii) increasing participation by volunteers, and (iii) facilitating collaborations among nonprofit legal organizations and advocates working on similar issues or in the same region.
