Current Privacy and Security Issues and Responses

Based on a growing chorus of security concerns voiced by legal aid leaders, ad-hoc groups have started working in New York and nationally to identify current, high-priority security and privacy issues. They hope to develop practical, free or low-cost approaches to addressing the same through model policies, practices, trainings, testing strategies, and third-party tools. These security groups are examining risks with respect to legal aid office networks and systems, use of common cloud-based systems and services, publishing web sites and resources, use of social media, working outside legal aid offices, and issues with respect to online activity by staff and volunteers. The groups are looking beyond data security and privacy to the security and safety of legal aid clients and staff members. This webinar will update the national legal aid community on the status of this work, share developed resources and invite broader community collaboration.
