A Whirlwind Tour of User Experience Techniques on a Shoestring

The emphasis on “customer” and “user experience” in the corporate world has resulted in a a host of techniques that are directly applicable to legal aid technologies at every stage in a project. What can you easily do to better understand what will work for your own “customers”—whatever users you’re trying to serve-- without blowing out your budget?

Using examples from both the corporate and the legal aid world, including case studies from the new Ohio state-wide website (Ohio Legal Help) planning phases and the experience of the NuLawLab, we’ll show how you can improve the user experience of your technologies on any budget.   We'll take a look at how to succeed with tried and true methods such as interviews, surveys, and user research, as well as exploring less used options such as mental models, paper prototyping, and co-design sessions.

This webinar will be facilitated by Laura Quinn, independent consultant and former Executive Director of Idealware. She'll be joined by Dan Jackson, Executive Director of the NuLawLab and  Rachel Harris from the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation.
